James Utter started Utter Well Drilling in 2003 after being honorably discharged from the US Army. Jim worked and learned the drilling trade from his father Art Utter as a child, working with his Dad on many types of rigs including environmental, oil & gas, and water wells. Art taught Jim cable tool drilling and air and mud rotary drilling at the age of 13. Jim started his business out with $100 towards buying an old rotary drilling rig that he had to rebuild, and the business has grown and come a tremendous distance in the last 20+ years.

Jim has worked to improve the water well drilling industry by adapting new drilling & well development techniques, equipment and products. Utter Well Drilling is a leading contractor in Hydro Development (to increase well yield) and small Dual Rotary Well Drilling.
